Becoming an IMWe teamer
The IMWe team is searching for new team members in Spring 2026.
Below, we will explain why, how, when, who, etc.
Why are we opening the process?
-
To be more transparent
-
To be open to people the team might not think of
-
To know the skills that people have, because we cannot see all of them at IMWe
-
To not select people in the process that don’t want to be teamers
What's the commitment?
-
Friday before IMWe until Tuesday after IMWe (12 days)
-
3 weekends Friday-Sunday in February, May & September (9 days)
-
100-150 hours of preparation throughout the year, though mostly from January until IMWe = 2-3 hours a week on average, which might mean 0 hours in August but 10 hours per week in March (depending on the jobs you pick)
-
Optimally being on the team for several years (e.g. 6-10 years)
-
Please note: your experience at IMWe will be as a teamer and not necessarily as a participant
What are our criteria for achieving a diverse team?
-
International diversity, but at the same time we have a tight budget so it can’t be too many foreign places
-
Gender diversity
-
Some native language (EN/DE) specialists
-
Some active VCP members
-
Good personal relationships and teamwork
-
Different personal skills that cover the entire range of skills needed for IMWe to be successful
-
Result 1: You could be the perfect teamer, but travelling from Mexico City to the preparation weekends is simply too expensive.
-
Result 2: You live in Germany and have perfect IMWe skills, but these are already covered by the current team and therefore someone filling the missing holes was selected.
What is the timeline for the process?
-
The form can be filled out until April 26th 2026.
-
The team will decide at our meeting in May.
-
You will hear from us by the end of June.
What if you don’t want to fill out the form?
-
If you are not sure or indifferent about being a teamer, you don’t have to fill out the form.
-
We as a team decided that we might talk about and pick people we find fitting for the team (even though they might have been too shy to let us know that they would like to be on the team).
What if you don’t want to be a teamer?
-
If you are very certain that you do not want to be a teamer, please let us know via the survey as well. Then we don’t have to talk about you in the process :)
If you have any questions, please let us know via info@imwe.net.
